The climax of the year for student chamber groups, this concert is held as a 'mock contest'.

Meadowdale Chamber Orchestra from Edmonds: “The Meadowdale Stock Exchange”
Award won: “Go for Brokers”
Bribes were certificates for 10,000 shares of the Meadowdale HS Chamber Orchestra
“David and his Sword in a Plastic Home Depot Stone”
Award won: “Best Rock Group”
Bribes included: a homemade cake topped with chocolate “stones” and with a giant sword stuck through the middle
University Prep Ensemble:
Won: “Top Hat” (also considered for Haydn Sikh)
Bribe: Dozen red roses
Les Jeunes Filles dubbed the “Nice Mice” Mendelssohn op.12, E flat major, Canzonetta
Won: “The Least Cheesy Award/Grate Job”
Bribes included a lovely platter of cheese
“Where are the Kumquats”(pirates…)
Award:
“Very A-Depp and cleaver”
Bribes: bottle of rum, dagger, boots
Their performance of Beethoven featured odd lapses into phrases of a pirate’s jig!
The Passionate Pink Pigs from Academy of Music Northwest
Won: The Three P's for Passion, Plumes, and Pizzaz”
Bribes: pink plates, pink cups, with giant lightpink frosted sugar cookies and hot pink frosted animal crackers and pink lemonade and included a banner “Who says pigs can’t fly?”
The Black Pearl Sextet from Beyond Nirvana program Came as a gang of pirates(yes, more pirates!)
Won: “Plank-walkers award”
Bribes included: Pirate’s Booty; Black Pearl Olives. They told pirate’s jokes, said “Aargh” a lot, and marched down the aisle singing “It’s a Pirate’s Life for Me”

The Peter Pan ensemble
(Ballard Chamber Orchestra)
Won: “Quite a Hook” and “Never Panned”
Bribes included: multicolored pixi sticks, thrown down the aisle by Tinkerbel.
They had a sword fight!

The Northwest School Garden Gnomes
came as various garden creatures, and their music was prefaced by a poetic introduction
Won: “Praise of Prize Prose”
Bribes included: donuts and judge hats
Iron Chefs from Ferndale High School
A lot of great cooking by some super chefs!

Won: The Culinary Cantor Award (because they sang part of the piece instead of playing it!)
Bribes: 3 little cakes with whipped crème and a big strawberry for each

Whitman String Quartet
Won:“The most off-balance

and stressed out”
Bribe: anti-depressant pills
Evergreen String Quartet - Issaquah School District from Beyond Nirvana program,
Won: “The Ever-clear attitude award”
Bribes included: lottery tickets
Fish n’ Chip* Quintet from Olympia High School, played Schubert’s “Trout Quintet”
Won: “Best Narrated Act”
Bribes: mini gold fish bowls filled with goldfish crackers and Swedish fish and one pringles chip

The Wizard of Brahms
–the Windsong Quintet:
Won: “The Best Act”
Bribes included a Technicolor cake, munchkin mix, lollipops and one melted witch.
Acted out the Wizard of Oz story, with a musical twist!
