CAMP NIRVANA STRING QUARTET CONCERT.  presented by “Chamber Music Madness”, directed by Karen Iglitzin. Twenty violinists, violists and cellists from Washington, Oregon and South Carolina, ages 14-19, are selected by audition and formed into 5 string quartets..  This concert is the culmination of the 2-week residential “Camp Nirvana”. The camp faculty includes Iglitzin and Irwin Eisenberg, both former violinists with the former Philadelphia Quartet, and cellist Leslie Marckx.  The program will feature works by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Bartok. Other highlights: souful music by the Russian, Dmitri Shostakovich; “The Prayer of the Toreador” by the Spanish composer, Turina, and wild American music by George Rochberg. 

Due to the high level of expression that Camp Nirvana concerts are known for, this concert is considered a high point of the year for those interested in music education.  It is sponsored in part by the American String Teachers of Washington.
Come and experience ‘chamber music nirvana”!   Suggested donation: $5 for students and seniors, $15 for adults.
